Dik Cadbury + Steve Hackett
Dik has been chasing me for years for copies of shots I took at the 1979 Reading Rock Festival - where I was the official photographer for the organisers, Harold and Barbara Pendleton (NJF Marquee). Dik was playing with the Steve Hackett Band, in front of a huge afternoon audience.I also remember John Shearer's enormous drum kit! The photo of Slade, below, shows a similar afternoon atmosphere. NB - Dik, I'll scan your Hackett shots soon... even though the olive harvest beckons!
Yes, I've done some sh*t jobs...
Jobs and locations have been very varied over the decades - but fortunately, many champagne parties and fashion shows more than made up for the occasional morning in a sewer, or muddy farm field!
In the 1980s bd went down this live sewer to show installation of early cable TV in Cheltenham. High-tech story, but a rather low-tech dirty job! Client: The Times, and Sunday Times.
Brian Donnan's earliest photos were taken in Swaziland during two years of Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) between 1967 to 1969.
This led directly to a busy career as a PR photographer in Cheltenham and the Cotswolds.
In 2005 bd moved to Cordoba Spain... where carefully stored negative files are now being scrutinised with a view to uploading to this new site....
Queen's Silver Jubilee, 1977
This 1977 Silver Jubilee image, became a temporary business card, during the Golden Jubilee celebrations 25 years later! It was originally taken for my regular monthly pages in Cotswold Life Magazine.
Queen's Wooden Leg?
My first photos of the Queen were for the Walls Ice Cream factory, Gloucester (biggest in Europe!). Printing this photo in the darkroom I was suprised to see the Queen appeared to have a wooden leg!
